The NOMAD® Taurus 400 is a lightweight and compact 2-season mummy sleeping bag with an extra wide fit. This version is perfect if you like to sleep in a mummy sleeping bag but also prefer some additional freedom of movement. This sleeping bag adds a few more degrees of insulation compared to the Taurus 250.

The roomy mummy sleeping bag

Rolling over onto your other side at night is no problem with this mummy sleeping bag. The Taurus offers the warmth of a mummy sleeping bag combined with the roominess of a blanket-model sleeping bag.

Features

The Taurus 400 comes with a soft hood that can easily be tightened around the head with the integral cord; this helps to retain warmth should the temperature fall at night. The sleeping bag also features a ‘3D foot box’ structure, providing more space and insulation at the lower end − no more cold feet!

The sleeping bag can be opened from both ends using the handy 2-way zip, which means you can open the zip wherever you need to create some extra ventilation, and if it is dark in your tent, no worries; you can always find your zip easily thanks to the glow-in-the-dark zip pull. There is also a pocket on the inside of the sleeping bag where you can store your small, valuable belongings.

The Taurus 400 is very compact and weighs only 740 grams because it is made from super-lightweight breathable polyester. This fabric is also ‘ripstop’, meaning it is woven using a technique that makes it stronger and more tear-resistant. The filling of this sleeping bag is a mixture of down and synthetic down, ensuring softness, warmth and comfort.

This sleeping bag is finished with a PFC-free coating, giving it water-repellent properties without the use of harmful chemicals. The lining has been treated with Polygiene Stays Fresh® technology. This antibacterial treatment ensures that the sleeping bag remains fresh and free from odours for longer; it also means the bag needs to be washed less frequently.

The Taurus 400 incorporates suspension loops to facilitate airing after use. It can then be packed in a very compact format using the compression stuffsack supplied.

Recommended body length

The recommended maximum body length for this sleeping bag is 190 centimetres.

Comfort temperature

Approximate comfort temperatures are 6°C for women and 1°C for men. This sleeping bag is not recommended for temperatures below -14°C. If you’re looking for a 3-season or summer sleeping bag, then the Taurus 500, 250 or 180 might be for you.
